The wedding will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Both the ceremony and the reception will be held at the Anacortes Transit Shed, located at the bottom of Commercial Ave. in the historic section of downtown Anacortes.
Ceremony and Reception
4:30 PM to 10:00 PM
(we actually have the venue until 1 AM, so non-tired people can stay later if the hang continues)
Anacortes Transit Shed
100 Commercial Ave
Anacortes, WA 98211
(360) 293-3134
DRESS CODE: Come as you are (or however you wish to be).
We will be doing the whole tux and white dress thing, but we want everyone to be comfortable, so you're welcome to dress up as formally or as casually as you'd like.
NOTE REGARDING SHOE WEAR: The venue's floor is comparable to a dock/pier; in fact, that's exactly what it is. There are small gaps in the wood (enough to see and hear the water below); as a result, we advise against small heels that might get caught in the gaps. We have been asked a couple of times to clarify just how small of a heel will be an issue; the following distinction may help: if the heel is larger than a quarter, you should be fine; if the heel is the size of a penny/dime or smaller, we would advise against it.
parking
There is parking available around the venue at the highlighted sections in the aerial view below. There is also parking available throughout downtown Anacortes (up Commercial Avenue from the venue).
special guest: karl blau
In addition to your standard wedding fare of a DJ blasting all the latest club hits (we'll have that too), we are really darn honored and excited to announce that Karl Blau and his band will be performing at our wedding during the cocktail hour. Karl will be playing, in its entirety, his 2016 album Introducing (one of our favorite albums that gets played an absurd amount of times in our apartment) featuring covers of country classics. Though it's a covers album, it is Karl's voice and interpretations that make the album shine and uniquely his own. Karl is from Anacortes and has been releasing amazing records since the late '90s. He is criminally underrated, and we are ecstatic that you'll get to hear him live at our wedding. We're still pinching ourselves about this one...
You can preview a song (maybe the best song of 2016) from Introducing below, but we suggest buying the record (or any of his others), because:
It's ridiculously good.
It ain't easy out there for a musician these days in the streaming era, and art this good should be compensated well.
